Yooralla Youth Ministries work with local church communities and other organisations both in Australia and overseas to improve the present conditions of people through physical assistance and emotional improvement. Yooralla's journey started in late 1996 with a small team of friends committed to helping others. Yooralla work with local communities to identify the needs of young people and to develop relevant and effective long term solutions.
Four years after independence and freedom, Timor Leste is one the world's least developed nations. With the battle of independence won, this impoverished country is looking towards rebuilding itself after generations of horror. Many homes and buildings were burnt out during the exit of the former occupiers, and children across the country have been left orphaned by the violence.
Would you like to assist Yooralla? Join one of our Volunteer Holidays to Timor, assist in re-building war-torn homes in remote Timorese villages and see for yourself how our support helps communities in need. Or you can become a 'Friend of Yooralla' via the Yooralla website, click here.
Funds raised by our Volunteer Holiday program and the personal donations of others benefit many projects managed by our charity partners. In Timor East, part of of our fundraising proceeds are being used to construct a brand new health-care centre.
New health-care Centre for East Timor
Builders have already committed to building a new health-care centre which will be used by both the leaders of the village and the local church as a day Health Clinic. The centre will also be used to undertake Health and Hygiene education, home gardening and market gardening education programs (an ongoing employment project for the village).
